The 2013 girls soccer season in the Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) promises to be another banner-filled campaign.
There is Elyse Ingui’s Freehold High School team, which is coming off an undefeated regular season, Shore Conference B North Division crown and an appearance in the Shore Conference Tournament (SCT) finals. The Colonials are a veteran team that expect to “compete for the B North, SCT and state titles,” according to their head coach.

FREEHOLD
Freehold returns most of its starters from last year’s 15-2-2 team as it looks to not only repeat in B North, but also to collect postseason tournament championships.
The Colonials are very strong at all three levels on the field — forward, midfield and defense.
Up front, the dangerous Sarah Grace Johnson led the team in goals scored (12) and assisted on five others. Jenna Huseky (five goals, one assist) is also back at forward.
At midfield, the Colonials are solid, with the return of leading scorer Meghan Holtz (eight goals, 14 assists) and Hayley Rice (10 goals, two assists).
Julia Orrico (two goals, two assists), Olivia Cannarozzi (one assist), Ashley Latona (two goals, three assists) and Nicolette Van- Duysen are veterans expected to make more of a contribution this year from midfield.
Back on defense, the Colonials will miss Chelsi Bender (now at Mississippi State University), but they have Lindsay Cerio (five goals, one assist), Sophia Duffy (two goals, one assist) and Christina Stabile (two assists) to anchor the backfield.
The Colonials don’t have experience in goal, where they must replace Sara Cobb and her 15 shutouts. Cobb was a mainstay the last four years, posting 47 shutouts in her career.
The job of replacing Cobb goes to Meghan Hurler, who saw limited action last season. Great goalkeeping has been a long tradition at Freehold, and the junior will look to carry on that tradition.
Newcomers bringing further depth to the team are Emma Smith (midfield), Kayla Juliana (midfield), Allyson McNamee (forward) and Carley Sliwka (midfield).
Ingui starts the season 13 victories shy of 100 career wins with the Colonials. She led Freehold to back-to-back state finals appearances, winning the Group III state title in 2007.
Holtz (Bucknell University), Rice (Lipscomb University), Stabile (The College of New Jersey) and Orrico (The College of New Jersey) have already made their college commitments.
